This thought hit me SMACK in the middle of my design paper but honestly shout out to Marv, the best friend of Charlie from Charlie and Lola. Charlie was an an amazing older brother but Marv was such a good best friend too. Always looking out for both Charlie and Lotta because that’s his best friend’s sister and her best friend what a good guy. He put up with their shenanigans because he was Charlie’s best friend and that’s what best friends do

Also as a kid I was convinced Charlie and Marv were like 11-12 to Lola’s 4-5 and in looking up the show I found out CHARLIE AND MARV WERE LIKE EIGHT THIS WHOLE TIME WHAT DO YOU MEAN

i am admittedly not the biggest Maybe Happy Ending person in general, but I am kind of annoyed it will very likely win book and score when i think there are much stronger contenders in those categories (particularly score-- i feel like even its biggest fans admit the score took a second to grow on them). I think the show is a "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" situation but the fact people love it so much in general will probably make voters less objective about those categories.

so i haven't seen mhe because im bad and i guessed that darren criss was gonna renew his contract and he did so. i'm still waiting lmfao

but i've seen all the the other best musical noms! and like. i do think mhe probably swung the unique narrative theme everyone had going on this year the best, besides... operation mincemeat i think. but mhe is totally original as far as i understand, and none of the other noms technically are. i'm also like a pretty big fan of scores that have more of a narrative than like. ear worms. like "dead" from dead outlaw is a genuine banger but is it a special song to the show? i like. don't think so. like i loved floyd collins's score because the orchestration is all pure foreshadowing and sounds sort of strange and odd sometimes! i don't remember all the songs but i know that while i was Sitting there Viewing It it was serving the themes of the story going on. lyrically and musically.

my fear isn't that mhe would win best book. my fear is that death becomes her will.. i wasn't even thinking abt mhe. hmm! my hope is mincemeat wins i think it has a rly good shot. we'll see!!
